Ever Since Tata made the launch of this remarkable vehicle- "ALTROZ", it has been a very successful story for them. They were able to attract a huge number of potential buyers for it. But in this blog, we look at whether this vehicle is worth purchasing. For your better understanding, I have divided this article into "Pros & Cons". So, fasten your seat belts.
Let's start with the pros of this car:-
1. First of all, anyone would expect the external look to be spectacular, and I would say Tata has nailed it this time with its design engineers working to bring in an awesome change on the looks. It has been one of the crucial points for the huge sales numbers.
2. Impact 2.0- Agile Light Flexible Advanced(ALFA) the next big update is that the vehicle was built on the same platform the Harrier was designed that is ALFA architecture. This design philosophy stands for more impactful, stunning designs and also meets the global standards in terms of quality and beyond. What does it mean..???? it means Indian manufacturers are setting benchmarks in the global market in terms of safety. No wonder it scored a 5star in the global NCAP rating. TATA Kudos to you.
3. Different Trims-Tata has launched Altroz in many trims such that the car can be purchased by anyone according to his budget and tastes. Some of the variants are-XE[base], XE rhythm, XM, XZ(o)[top].And not to forget the "One Nation One Price" altroz's ex-showroom costs the same throughout India, isn't it awesome!!❤️
4.Mileage- (any typical Indian rider would have this in his mind-yaar ek km extra dede)so let me share my experience on this car, the average mileage rages anywhere from 12.7-14kms in the city [which can drop to about 10.5-11.3kmpl if you ride it aggressively] and in highway, you can expect 24-26kmpl depending on your driving.
5.Ill add misc points in short:-
- AC works fabulously and chills the cabin in no time
- Plenty of storage spaces
- Cooled glovebox
- Cruise control
- Mind-boggling music system
- Fantastic suspension tuned perfectly for bumpy rides
- Feels confident at high speeds and around the corners
- 90- degrees opening doors
- Ambient lighting on the center console
- Low maintenance
Now that we have covered things on the positive aspect, let's move on to the drawbacks of this vehicle:-
1. Vibrations - no doubt- Tata wanting to improve the fuel efficiency of the car has fit in a 3-cylinder petrol engine, which has resulted in vibrations while the car is in a static position.
2. Engine noise- as mentioned due to the 3-cylinder engine, you'll be able to hear the engine noise inside the cabin post 2000rpm. [even after engine refinement]
3. Less power- You won't experience the kick in the pants feel like you do in VW or Hyundai cars, it feels underpowered in some instances but most of the time it does the job. You would need to downshift while making an overtake at low speeds. [Not sure about the i-turbo]
4. No Sunroof- at this price point and looking at other competitors, Tata must have offered a sunroof for the car. ( at least on the top trim)
*Note::[ I won't recommend anyone to install a sunroof from 3rd party service providers as they may damage the structure of the vehicle].
5. I would add misc points to it for the minor points:-
- No LED lights
- Fit and finish issues
- Thick A-pillars [ though they are for safety purposes, it creates a blind-spot while turning the vehicle]
- Door locking mechanism
- Single cabin light
- Low service networks
- No automatic transmission
So, to sum up, I would say Altroz definitely is a great family car with minor shortfalls, but I don't think these shortcomings are so big that they would fail to impress anyone. In short, I would say it'll definitely put a smile on your face every time you ride it.
This is Srivatsan signing off until we meet in the next blog! Have a great ride$ bubbyee!!😊
